Get to know your child, by asking questions. When was the last time you asked your child some personal questions? I don’t mean the normal question about how their day was, or what they want to eat. It’s time to set aside more time to learn about our children. Do this by asking them questions about themselves.
Creating a bond with your child is important! They need to always feel like they are loved and cared about. Asking them questions about themselves, could be a way to show them that you truly care about them. Try to learn about the things that interest them, and watch how much joy it brings them as they speak. Here are some questions that you can ask.
- What are some things that you love or like to do?
- Do you have favorite color?
- What is your favorite subject?
- Do you have favorite food, drink, or snack?
- What makes you happy and sad?
- What do you like about yourself?
- Are there some things that you would like to happen?
My daughter was so happy to tell me things about herself. Jewelry, science, lip gloss, and flowers are some things that bring her joy. I was happy to hear about these things. However, I was really glad to hear about what she loves about herself, and what things she would like to happen.
Take the time out to get to know your child more. Create a new bond by asking questions. Showing that you care about their interest could mean everything to them. I know it did for my daughter.

Sometimes we think those simple questions are mundane or obvious to us – but to our kids, they get excited about talking about themselves! <3

Cute idea! I recently started asking my child about his favorite things, and he loved asking them back to me. It was the sweetest conversation.

I think it’s a great idea to ask your kids what they like about themselves! It gives you some insight into their world, but also makes them think about themselves positively! Great conversation starters!!!

These are cute questions! I think we sometimes forget to just sit and talk to our kids with busy lives. These would be great for a car ride.
